Our Commitment

As an organization committed to healing trauma, we understand and acknowledge the profound and lasting impact that oppression has on individuals and communities. We firmly believe that colonized systems perpetuate trauma, and we are dedicated to addressing this issue head-on. Our anti-oppression statement reflects our commitment to dismantling oppressive systems and fostering an environment of healing, justice, and equality.

Statement:

At Feelings Forward Wellness, we recognize that all forms of oppression cause immeasurable harm and trauma to individuals and communities. We acknowledge the pain, fear, and emotional distress experienced by those who have been marginalized and oppressed. We stand in solidarity with all those affected and commit ourselves to actively working against racism and other oppressive systems.

Action Items:

  1. Education and Awareness: We actively engage in ongoing education to deepen our understanding of oppressive systems, its historical roots, and its contemporary manifestations. We participate in anti-oppression training, workshops, and discussions to promote awareness and foster an inclusive environment.

  2. Healing-Centered Approach: We prioritize a healing-centered approach that recognizes the trauma of marginalized communities. We strive to create safe and supportive spaces where individuals can explore and address the impact of colonization on their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Our services and programs are designed to uplift and empower marginalized communities, providing resources and support for their healing journey.

  3. Collaborative Partnerships: We forge partnerships with organizations and communities that share our commitment to combating further marginalization. Through these collaborations, we aim to amplify the voices of those that have been marginalized, promote collective action, work towards systemic change, and share resources that we have acquired due to our privilege.

  4. Advocacy and Policy Change: We use our platform and influence to advocate for policies and initiatives that address injustice and dismantle oppressive structures. We actively support legislative efforts that promote equality, social justice, and anti-oppression. We engage in grassroots organizing, community outreach, and public campaigns to raise awareness and drive meaningful change.

  5. Continuous Self-Reflection and Improvement: We embrace an ongoing process of self-reflection and evaluation within our organization. We actively seek feedback from consultants with lived experience to identify areas where we can improve our practices, policies, and programs to better combat oppression and provide healing support.

By taking these action items, we strive to create an organization that not only acknowledges the trauma caused by oppression but actively works to combat oppression in all its forms toward liberation. We are dedicated to fostering healing, promoting social justice, and building a more equitable and inclusive society.
